THE DIRTY VERSION
OL' DIRTY BASTARD LIVE & UNCUT
Tuesday, October 28, 2003
But the performance that everyone may remember the longest was the paroled-in-February OL' DIRTY BASTARD's not so triumphant return from prison Friday at the Knit. Surrounded by his Brooklyn Zoo posse and a few women apparently auditioning for Girls Gone Wild, the man now known as Dirt McGirt stood in a motionless daze, staring confusedly out into the frat boys and hipsters going apeshit over his presence. Now and then he'd break into a random wordless wail or chant, and occasionally he'd remember lyrics. At one point, drool began to drip from a corner of his mouth. It was like watching a lame dog lying in the street, waiting to get hit. [Village Voice

  * RZA, B. B. King Blues Club and Grill, 243 West 42nd Street, Manhattan, (212) 997-4144. RZA, the Wu-Tang Clan's visionary producer (and not-always-visionary rapper), plays a show in Midtown in support of his rather disappointing new CD, 'Birth of a Prince' (Wu-Records/Sancturary/BMG). It may not be a great performance, but it's sure to be an interesting one, especially since Dirt McGirt (formerly O.D.B.), the black sheep of the Clan and that's saying something is also to perform. Sunday night at 8; tickets are $25 (Sanneh). [nytimes.com]
JC Chasez Theorizes About Girl-On-Girl Action, Nabs Ol' Dirty For Video

"With 'Some Girls (Dance With Women),' Chasez will likely be getting some attention of his own. The song, due at radio and video outlets at the end of November, features a provocative accompanying video and a remix with a guest appearance from Dirt McGirt, the rapper formerly known as Ol' Dirty Bastard."

"The record company said this is an event, you have to do something," Chasez explained. "I was like, 'I don't know, I kind of like it the way it is.' They were like, 'Just name somebody you think would rip this.' I tried to think of someone unique. Busta Rhymes and Missy Elliott are amazing rappers, but they've done a million collaborations. So in my mind, Dirty is fresh. Fresh out of jail, yes. Nevertheless, no one's heard from him in a while and he's due to make some noise. And the verse he did is really cool."

ODB Lends A Hand As State Property Shoot Four Videos In Three Days

"It's kind of a funny story with ODB," Jimmy said with a chuckle. "He was supposed to show up at 10 a.m., but he showed up at 10 p.m. I love him! When ODB finally did come up, we bashed in a couple of cop car windows. He's looking crazy, doing his ODB thing. Whether he was late or not, he still did his thing and it was my pleasure [to direct him]."
